8th of January 2015 the premiere of "The Photographer" by Waldemar Krzystek

the Photographer Waldemar Krzystek Maciej Zielinski polish composerOn January 8th 2015 in the capital Cinematheque premiered "The Photographer" the latest film by Waldemar Krzystek. The film tells the story of a 7-year old boy who lives with his parents - Russian soldiers, in the Russian military unit stationed in the 70s in Legnica. The Boy named Kola doesn’t speak with his own voice. He can only mimic the voices of others. This strange ailment leads to tragedy and his own mother sends him to psychiatric institution. After years of wanting to settle scores Kola comes back and becomes a serial killer.
“The Photographer” is a gripping thriller, but it's also a great psychological cinema showing the truth about Polish-Russian relations in the 70's and the problems encountered by the Russia in the present.
Maciej Zielinski’s music for this movie is an original combination of sounds: string orchestra (Aukso, directed by Marek Mos) with a surprisingly sounding accordion trio (Motion Trio), piano (Krzysztof Herdzin), harp harmonics (Anna Sikorzak-Olek) and a dose of sophisticated electronics.
This unusual combination of sounds builds and supports the emotional atmosphere of the movie. The Composer skillfully dispenses tension. The recordings took place in Alvernia Studios, postproduction at Dreamsound. Responsible for the overall effect was Tadeusz Mieczkowski.
