TV Concert with new carol arrangements at the Mariacki Church

Four days before Christmas, on December the 20th, the Mariacki Church will have a truly festive atmosphere due to the 2011 Carol Nova concert, which will be recorded by the Second Channel of the Polish Television and then broadcasted at Christmas in the evening. The concert starts at 9:00 pm. The Polish national audience will have a chance to see it at 6:45 p.m. at Christmas.

The performance line up includes Camerata Silesia, the chamber orchestra Aukso conducted by Marek Mos as well as the children’s choir from the Singing Poland initiative.

The concert has been divided up into five parts. The first and second include the carols “In the Silence of the Night” and “Silent Night” arranged by Bartosz Chajdecki.

The other three parts – named Maria, Bethlehem, and Jesus respectively – include classical, club, and alternative music. They also feature popular Polish carols selected by the performers themselves. Aleksander Nowak, Slawomir Kupczak, Pawel Mykietyn and Maciej Zielinski will each introduce their arrangements. The performers include Wroclaw’s own local musicians, DJ Igor Boxx, rapper L.U.C., actresses Anna Czartoryska and Malgorzata Kozuchowska as well as Dorota Miskiewicz and Joanna Slowinska. Agata Zubel, a modern composer, will perform the carol “Jesus the Infant” arranged by Cezary Duchnowski. Three local bands – Bester Quartet, Kroke and Motion Trio – are also scheduled to perform.  The event has been organized by the National Cultural Center, The Cracow Festival Office and TVP2.
